Aegean, Lefteris Lazarou and Newrest prepared the in-flight menus during Pope Francis’ visit to Greece and Cyprus

The visit of the Pope Francis from the 4 to the 6th of December gave the opportunity to Aegean Airlines and the renowned Chef Lefteris Lazarou, in collaboration with Newrest, to serve high quality meals to the Bishop of Rome, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church during this mission’s flights; Larnaca – Athens, Athens-Mytilene, Mytilene-Athens and Athens-Rome.

Aegean Airlines flew Pope Francis on one of their new state-of-the-art Airbus A321neo aircraft.

Chef Lazarou used his talents and experience to develop beautiful menus using fresh, local, traditional products and recipes of Greek influence combined with some Italian influence.

The design of desserts had the signature of the famous Greek Pastry chef, Stelios Parliaros.

It was a great honor and joy for Newrest Hellas to prepare meals for this important Vatican mission in conjunction with Chef Lazarou, his Varoulko restaurant team and Aegean Airlines. We look forward to teaming up again in the near future!
